Choosing A Wedding Hair Stylist
Choosing a wedding hair stylist sounds easier than it actually is. Some people book the person who's been doing their hair for YEARS. Others think they can just book someone who specializes in a style they like. While it's okay if you do that, there are a few things that are important when choosing a wedding hair stylist.
DO YOUR RESEARCH! Make sure that you do your research on different hair stylists and create a list of prospects. It's better to have choices.
Check their portfolio. Does your potential stylist have photos of their actual work? It's important to view their portfolio to see if they could be a good fit.
Do they offer offer a free trial? It's important to do a free trial/consultation and then follow up with a paid trial. DON'T EVER WAIT UNTIL WEDDING DAY FOR THEM TO "EXPERIMENT" ON YOUR HAIR.
Do they have a nice vibe? While you won't be spending ALL DAY with just the hair stylist, they will be an important part of your special day and you want to make sure it id someone that you feel relatively comfortable with. I mean...your hair is pretty important, right?
Decide if you will be having a separate hair stylist for your bridal party. (We recommend YES!)
Find out if they have any other commitments on your wedding day. If so, it could potentially pose a problem.
Find out if there are any "extra charges" you should know about.
Make sure you are comfortable with their pricing + SIGN A CONTRACT. You want to make sure they don't quote you one price, then try to increase it last minute...like a few days before your wedding.
How is their time management? Discuss how long your requested style will take to create. If a stylist is known for being late or inefficient with time, save yourself the hassle and choose a professional who values your time and won't cause you to run behind schedule.
